Abstract
The objective of this research was to know the effect of composting time and compost dose of Kerambang (Polygonum barbatum L.) on infiltration, run off and erosion in subsoil of Ultisol. This research has been conducted in the Laboratory of Physic and Soil Conservation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research began from March to October 2013, The method of this research used Factorial Complete Randomized Design. The treatments were composting time of compost which consisted of 1, 2 and 3 months of composting time and dose of compost which consisted of 0 ton ha'1, 5 ton ha"1, 10 ton ha*1 and 15 ton ha'1. Each treatment combination was repeated 3 times, so the total was 36 trays. Observed variables measured were infiltration, run off and erosion. The results of the research showed the composting time (1,2 and 3 months) has the maturity level, so compost 1 month was ready to use (C/N ratio < 14). The effect of composting time (1,2 and 3 months) did not give significant effect on infiltration, run off and erosion. But, the effect of compost dose was very significant for increased infiltration and decreased both run off and erosion. Combination of dose 15 same ton ha'1 and compost 1 month gave significant increasing on infiltration and significant decreasing on run off and erosion in every treatments.
