Abstract

Palm oil Biodiesel is an altemative fuel made from vegetable oil that is environmentally friendly and can reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in diesel motor fuel. It has been observed on the addition of palm oil biodiesel fuel Pertadex on fuel consumption and exhaust emissions in diesel motors. The parameters studied were specific fuel consisting of pure Pertadex, a mixture of 10% biodiesel (B 10), 20% (B20), 30% (B30), 40% (B40) and the rotation speed of the engine. Exhaust emissions observed were CO, C02, and HC. Tests performed on the diesel engine generator set type RI 75. Testing is done by varying the rotation 1500 rpm, 1750 rpm, and 2000 rpm. Measuring instruments used are Stargas analyzer type 898. Results of the testing showed that B10 fuel (90% + 10% Pertadex palm oil biodiesel) is able to reduce levels of CO emissions by 29.7%, HC emissions by 28.5%, and C02 emissions of 36.7% when compared to other fuel samples. Fuel consumption are the most economical in the B10 sample which only consumes 0.44 kg / hour. Fuel consumption on a sample B10 can save fuel by 12%. It shows that the combustion process in the combustion of fuel is the most perfect B10 when compared with other samples.
