Abstract

The purpose of this research Japan and varieties from Indonesia were able to growth and good production in saline soil. The research was conducted from November 2012 until April 2013 at the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya. The lines from Japan used were NILS 18-S, NILS 18-T, NILS 25-S, NILS 25-T, NILS 72-S, NILS 72-T, FT-Abyara from Brazil, Jackson from America and varieties from Indonesia namely Mutiara, and Tanggamus. The method of the research used was Randomized Completely Design (RAL) consisting of ten treatments and three replications. The results showed that there were some genotypes that perfumed their growth better. Lines of Nils-T are lines that have the potential to be grown on saline soil. In terms of plant growth and development, NELS-T was not too different with Jackson, and in terms of crop production was these lines not different with FT-Abyara.
