Abstract
Metallurgy Laboratory of Sriwijaya University has a NDT tool with magnetic powder methode yoke type, but this tool can not work properly. Because of that, in this scrift writer will explain about how to modify it, so it can work properly. Magnetic powder inspection is used to show defect on surface and sub surface with using flux leakage on the tested surface. Magnetic powder will accumulate on flux leakage, make a type and dimention of defect. Optimization on this tool is in form of magnetic field strength addition and some physical shape altemation. Magnetic field strength produced is 31856,2 A/m and magnetic force is 11468,232AT.
