Abstract

The addition of growth regulators can be used as an effort to stimulate increased growth of galangal rhizomes. One of the natural growth regulators that can be used is Moringa leaves because Moringa leaves contain growth hormones such as zeatin, auxin, gibberellin, abscisic acid and salicylic acid. Based on the description above, the use of Moringa leaf extract on the growth of kencur rhizomes is still very limited so efforts are needed to determine the effect of Moringa leaf extract on the growth of kencur rhizomes. This research was conducted from September 2023 to March 2024 at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory and the Experimental House of the Biology Department. The treatments were tried using 4 treatments and 6 repetitions. The observation variables were the time the shoots appeared, the percentage of rhizomes growing shoots, the number of shoots, the height of the shoots, the number of leaves, the length of the roots and the wet weight of the galangal rhizomes. Observation data is analyzed using averages and standard deviations, then described and presented in tabular form. Based on research that has been carried out, it was found that soaking treatment with Moringa leaf extract with different concentrations showed different growth responses of kencur rhizomes, which included the time shoots appeared, the percentage of rhizomes growing shoots, the number of shoots, shoot height, number of leaves, root length and wet weight. rhizome.
