Abstract

The objective of this study was determine the effect of employment opportunity and human capital investment to the open unemployment in South Sumatera. This research was done by utilizing secondary data from BPS South Sumatera. The study used time series data for seven years old 2008-2014 and cross section data of eight regency of South Sumatera Province are Palembang, Prabumulih, Pagaralam, Lubuk Linggau, Ogan Komering Ilir, Muara Enim, Banyuasin, and Ogan Komerinr Ulu Timur. The method used was a method of Panel regresion. The result of study showed tha employment opportunity and human capital investment have a significant impact an negative on open unemployment in South Sumatera is -0,1291 for employment opportunity and -2,3 for human capital investment.
