Abstract
International trade and foreign investment serve as driving indicators for the economic growth of a country. The dominance of the US dollar as the primary currency in trade and investment is already significant, while the volume of trade and investment among countries in the Asian region is increasing. This prompts the use of local currencies as an alternative to facilitate trade and investment for Indonesia and China. This mechanism is known as Local Currency Settlement. The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of cooperation between Indonesia and China in strengthening trade and investment facilitation through the Local Currency Settlement framework. Researchers employ international cooperation theory developed by Axelrod and Koehane, along with a descriptive qualitative research method using secondary data sources from literature studies. The results of this research indicate that mutuality of interest serves as the foundation for the cooperation between the two countries in Local Currency Settlement, aiming to enhance trade and investment and elevate the presence of local currencies. The total trade between Indonesia and China, which has increased after the formalization of Local Currency Settlement between the two countries, indicates the presence of a shadow of the future indicator. Indonesia and China have considered the indicator of the number of actors involved. Cooperation between Indonesia and China has been facilitated due to the limited number of countries as the main actors involved. Keywords: International trade, Foreign investment, Local Currency Settlement
