Abstract
One of the health problems that can occur in pregnant women is hypertension. Hypertension contributed the highest of deaths in pregnant women. Hypertension has a serious impact on pregnant women and the fetus so that proper treatment is needed in accordance with the doctor’s direction, in addition to pharmacological treatment, increased blood pressure can be reduced with non-pharmacological therapy, namely Footbath Therapy. Footbath Therapy is a foot soaking technique using warm water which is done within 10-15 minutes with a water temperature of 38°-40°C. Purpose: Provide nursing care to clients with hypertension problems by providing Footbath Therapy as an additional intervention to lower blood pressure. Method: The author uses a qualitative method through a case study approach to 3 clients with hypertension problems. Discussion:Footbath therapy is able to reduce blood pressure in all three managed clients. Warm water is able to stimulate blood vessels so that dilation occurs so that blood circulation becomes smooth and can affect the pressure in the ventricles. Smooth blood flow can push blood into the heart so that systolic blood pressure decreases. When the ventricles relax, the pressure in the ventricles will decrease so that diastolic blood pressure decreases. In addition to lowering blood pressure footbath therapy with warm water also provides benefits such as relaxing the body, reducing pain, and can restore muscle stiffness in joints. Conclusion: The application of footbath therapy is effective in reducing blood pressure with an average decrease of 6 mmHg in systolic pressure and an average decrease in diastolic pressure of 2 mmHg after 3 days of therapy.
