Abstract
Background: Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are injuries to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, cartilage, bones or blood vessels of the hands, feet, neck and back that affect the movement of the human body system. This complaint is a complaint that often occurs in health workers, especially dentists because dentists often produce rigid, static, and repetitive positions and postures for a relatively long time. Work duration and work period are occupational factors that play a role in Musculoskletal Disorders (MSDs) complaints because these complaints take a long time to develop and manifest in the body. Aims: To determine the relationship between length of work, including work duration and work period on complaints of Musculoskletal Disorders (MSDs) in dentists at RSKGM South Sumatra Province. Methods: The type of research conducted was analytic observational research with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents consisted of 30 dentists who were practicing dentists and had practice license (SIP) registered at the South Sumatra Province RSKGM. The study used Nordic Body Map questionnaire to determine MSDs complaints per body part and the level of MSDs complaints. Data was analyzed using the Chi-Square method. Results: There was no significant relationship between duration of working hours and MSDs complaints (p = 0.464, p>0.05). There was no significant relationship between working period and MSDs complaints (p = 0.963, p>0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between length of work, including work duration and work period on complaints of Musculoskletal Disorders (MSDs) in dentists at RSKGM South Sumatra Province.
