Abstract

The urgency of land needs resultingin land use with soft soils such as peat soil which can not be avoided anymore. Peat soils are included in the category of soils that has a low bearing capacity, therefore the foundation that will be built on peat soils require special attention so that the Building stability can be maintained. In this study will be used soil improvement techniques using wooden pile as a reinforcement alternatif to increase the bearing capacity of the peat used as subgrade on shallow foundation. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in bearing capacity using the reinforcement of any variations with the bearing capacity without reinforcement. The Modeling in this study was supported by using Plaxis 2D Program. This modelling was using a variation of the distance among the reinforcement for 2d; 2,5d; 5d and reinforcement width for B, 2B, 3B it is purposed to determine the value of ultimate bearing capacity and to know the increasing percentage by comparing bearing capacity of shallow foundation before and after by given the reinforcement. From the study , it is obtained that wooden pile can increase the bearing capacity of the foundation. The Modelling with a variation of the distance among cerucuk for 2d and wide reinforcement for B has the largest bearing capacity is 102,4 kN / m². The ratio of the bearing capacity is obtained for 2,216 or percentage of that increasing amounted of 121,6%.
