Abstract
Global warming is one of the most important issues today. Increasing global warming is a significant problem due to the high concentration of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere. Indonesia is one of the largest emitters in the world where greenhouse gas emissions are dominated by CO2 gas. Most of the CO2 gas is produced by power plants that use fossil fuels, thus contributing to the gradual increase in global temperature. One of the efforts to overcome this problem is with solid sorbents as carbon filtration. The solid materials that can be used include hydroxyapatite because it has reactivity to carbon dioxide and high thermal stability. The fabrication process of porous hydroxyapatite composites as a solid absorbent material using powder metallurgy and cold sintering methods with the main ingredients of cow bone to synthesize hydroxyapatite as a matrix, silica as reinforcement and mung beans as a space holder. In the research data, density testing the greater the compaction pressure and SiO2 concentration, the greater the porosity. porosity decreases, while XRD testing of ceramics there are 2 dominant phases, namely the hydroxyapatite phase. dominant phases, namely hydroxyapatite phase and SiO2 phase, then SEM testing SEM testing is carried out at 1 point, it can be seen that the porosity shape clearly with a variation of 2000x and 5000x magnification has a pore size that varies, the size obtained starts from 1.65 μm. obtained ranging from 1.65 μm to 6.95 μm, and carbon capture testing. capture composite successfully adsorbs CO2 well and has an average adsorption ability of 54.69%.
