Abstract
Stunting is still a serious public health problem in Ogan Ilir Regency. Data from the Health Service shows that although the prevalence of stunting among children under five in 2022 will fall to 24.9%, this figure is still far from the target of 14% making Ogan Ilir a stunting convergence area. This study aims to determine the relationship between a history of Low Birth Weight (LBW) and premature birth and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Ogan Ilir Regency. Research with a case-control design was carried out in 9 stunting locus villages in Ogan Ilir Regency, with a population of all mothers with toddlers aged 0-59 months in Ogan Ilir Regency. The sample consisted of 67 stunted toddlers (cases) and 134 stunted toddlers (controls), selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through questionnaires, anthropometric measurements and KIA books. Data analysis was carried out using the chi-square test. The analysis test results showed that LBW (p-value=0.325, OR=1.383), premature birth (p-value=0.763, OR=1.095), pregnancy interval (p-value=0.473, OR=0.767), and family income ( p-value=0.565, OR=1.294) with each p-value of the variable > 0.05. It can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between history of LBW, premature birth, pregnancy interval and family income with the incidence of stunting in toddlers (0-59 months) in Ogan Ilir Regency in 2023. Multi-stakeholder cooperation, education for the community, provision of nutritious food is needed by parents, environmental cleanliness, mass media, and further research to achieve stunting intervention program targets.
