Abstract
This aims of study were to reduce the number of broken midribs and find out the optimal dose of boiler ash in increasing the growth and yield of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) dry season effect. This research was carried out in oil palm research field and Laboratory of Plant Physiology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra from July 2018 to February 2019. The research design used was Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications, and two factors of treatments applied were watering intensity and dose of oil palm boiler ash. The watering intensity (D) consists of 5 levels; D0 = without watering; D1 = every 3 days; D2 = every 6 days; D3 = every 9 days; D4 = every 12 days. Boiler ash dose (Q) consists of 3 levels; Q0 = 0 kg/tree; Q1 = 5 kg/tree; Q2 = 10 kg/tree. The results showed that there was a significant interaction between watering and boiler ash to amount of fresh fruit bunches of oil palm.Watering intensity significantly effected to soil water content and amount of male flowers. Dose of boiler ash significantly affected leaf water content, amount of female flowers and amount of fruit bunches. Watering and boiler ash given through biopori holes can reduce the amount of broken midribs of oil palm. Watering treatment given every 3 days and dose of boiler ash of 10 kg/tree were the better treatment combination for increasing the amount of fruit bunches of oil palm compering to others.
