Abstract

Environmental sanitation in schools is one of the important factors that must be considered because it can affect health status. Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (PHBS) can reduce the risk of disease in students. The purpose of this study was to analyse the implementation of environmental sanitation and clean and healthy living behaviour for the elementary school environment in Ibul Besar Village, Pemulutan Sub-district. This research used descriptive qualitative research design through in-depth interview method. Informants were determined by Purposive Sampling technique totalling 18 people consisting of 9 key informants (6 Homeroom Teachers and 3 Principals) 6 main informants (students) and 3 supporting informants (janitors). The results of the study include the management and provision of waste bins that are quite good. The provision of clean water is still not good from the physical quality of the water. Inadequate latrine facilities from facilities and sewers. Inadequate HWWS facilities and no implementation of HWWS in primary schools. There is no liquid waste treatment in elementary schools and waste is directly flowed into the river, and schools do not provide drinking water and healthy canteens. Environmental sanitation management infrastructure is needed that meets health requirements including clean water for daily hygiene needs of students, paying attention to the quality of latrines, sewage treatment, providing more garbage boxes placed at every point of the school and monitoring.
