Abstract

PT Pamapersada Nusantara is one of the contractor companies that handles the work area in PT Bukit Asam Tbk. and actively carry out explosive activities to help the mining process. The explosions carried out at the Townsite Basecamp (TSBC) pit are considered to be still not optimal, especially in the bottom area. It is marked by a boulder percentage > 100 cm and the digging time of the Komatsu PC 2000-8 excavator that is high exceeds the company's specified limit (20 % for bouldering percentages > 100 cm and 11 seconds for digging times). The study aims to design explosion geometry to obtain fragmentation with a small boulder percentage value > 100 cm which can reduce digging time as well as increase the productivity of the excavator. The research method used is a quantitative method with a combination of explosion geometry data, fragmentation, digging time, geological data, explosive data, as well as excavator specifications to determine the most optimal explosion Geometry design. Based on the results of the research carried out, the three explosion geometry designs were able to meet the standard boulder percentage > 100 cm and digging time specified by the company. ICI Explosive's design was the best with the size of each parameter: 5.2 m burden, 6.7 m spacing, 3.5 m stemming, 6.5 m hole depth, and 3.0 m powder column and a powder factor of 0.260 kg/m3. The plan only produced a boulder percentage of 15.11 percent, so the predicted digging time was 10.541 seconds and the productivity of the Komatsu PC 2000-8 excavator was 364.626 BCM/hour.
