Abstract
Background: The family is society's smallest unit, who live together and are inextricably linked. Living under the same roof means that a family has similar habits and lifestyles, but most Indonesians have sedentary lifestyles, which contributes to an increase in incidence of the noncommunicable disease hypertension. Hypertension remains one of the leading causes of death and morbidity in Indonesia, hence it is critical to provide proper pharmacological and non-pharmacological care. Taichong acupoint acupressure and hydrotherapy (warm water foot soak) are non pharmacological methods for lowering blood pressure. Objective: to implement the results of evidence-based nursing studies by using Taichong acupoint acupressure and hydrotherapy (warm). Method:Using a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, nursing care will be implemented based on the findings of an analysis of ten research articles on three managed families. Results: The three managed family members who suffered from hypertension had problems with peripheral perfusion due to increasing blood pressure, indicating the family's failure to care for hypertensive members. After three days of Taichong acupoint acupressure and hydrotherapy (warm water foot soak), three hypertensive family members experienced a significant drop in systolic blood pressure (p-value 0.004) and in diastolic blood pressure (p-value 0.014). Discussion: The benefits of lowering blood pressure in three clients, which might alter peripheral perfusion, were attained using the working principles of Taichong acupoint acupressure and hydrotherapy (soaking the feet in warm water). The working idea of Taichong acupoint acupressure is that pressing the LR3/taichong point stimulates the liver, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure. Warm water can help widen blood vessels, improving circulation and strengthening muscles and ligaments. Conclusion: Taichong acupoint acupressure and hydrotherapy (warm water foot soak) have an effect on lowering blood pressure in the three members of the managed family who suffer from hypertension, implying that they can be used as nonpharmacological therapy options for hypertension sufferers.
