Abstract

The phenomenon of sexual bullying which treats victims through forms of intimidation, oppression, or violence with a sexual connotation will have an impact on the victims’ self-esteems. One of the efforts to overcome low self-esteem is through a play therapy approach, namely flashcard play therapy. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of the flashcard play therapy on self-esteem among teenage victims of sexual bullying. The design used in this study was experimental with a one group pretest-posttest method. A sample size of 37 respondents who experienced sexual bullying participated in this study. To measure the level of self-esteem, an instrument in the form of the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSE) questionnaire was used. The data analysis of this study was done by using the Paired Samples Test with value interpretation of (α = 0.05). The result of this study was p-value = 0.000 (p-value < α) which means that there was an influence of flashcard play therapy on self-esteem among victims of sexual bullying. Providing flashcard play therapy has an effect on overcoming self-concept disorder, namely low self-esteem among victims of sexual bullying, so that they are able to positively assess their abilities and qualities, feel they are valuable, and believe in their own abilities. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as a source of information for further research in the form of developing a research design with group control for confounding variables and developing play therapy methods.
