Abstract
The research objective was to determine the role of self-esteem toward consumer motivation of buying more than one car. The study hypothesis that self-esteem has a role to consumer motivation of buying more than one car. The study population was the citizens of Palembang city who had more than one car totaling 250 persons, used technique of incidental. The scale was measured by selfesteem scale and consumer motivation scale, with reference to the aspect from Coopersmith dan Uno. Data analysis using simple regression analysis. The result of the regression analysis obtained by value R=0,182, F=5,052 and p=0,026 (p<0,05). It shows that self-esteem has a role to consumer motivation of buying more than one car. With R square = 0,033, which mean the role’s magnitude toward consumer motivation is 3,3%. Thus the hypothesis is accepted.
