Abstract
Indonesia is a country rich in natural resources, one of which is coal. The South Sumatra Basin is located in the back arch basin and has several formations containing coal reserves, such as the Muaraenim Formation. This is the reason for the presence of many coal companies, one of which is PT. Gorby Energy in North Musirawas Regency, South Sumatra Province. In this study, a research method was used in the sequence of introduction, data collection, data processing and finally report preparation. The research area has anthropogenic landforms, stratigraphically consisting of 2 formations, namely (Tmpm), which is Middle Miocene to Late Miocene, consisting of mudstone units, coal sandstone, flaser laminated sandstone and tuff sandstone, then the Kasai formation (QTk) with tuff lithology. . from the tectonic aspect, no geological structure was found, from the sedimentation aspect the sedimentary structure is in the form of lamination and flaser lamination. Next, geological modeling research was carried out to understand the 3D subsurface model of the coal seam using MineScape 5.7. This process is very important in exploration to determine the economic feasibility of mining. The results of coal resource calculations are used to evaluate planned mining activities. In this research, several methods were used to determine coal resources, namely the StartModel Method and the Polygon Method. The Start Model method is used to develop and validate models and schema approaches. Meanwhile, the Polygon Method is to create influence polygons to divide resource zones from data distribution distances (intervals), then create donut polygons to create polygons as estimation boundaries. The average thickness of Seam A is 3.53 Seam B 11.70 Seam C 2.00 and Seam D 2.99 as measured from 20 drilling points. Based on the results of the coal quality test, namely the ADB-based proximate quality test, the ranking/ rank of each coal seam in the research area. The quality ranking of coal in Seam A, C, D is Subbituminous B Coal while seam B is Subbituminous A coal (ASTM D388-19, 2004) and medium class coal (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, 2011) with a calorie range of 10,178.68 btu/lb – 10,793 .14 btu/lb. The estimated coal resources for Seam A are 11,690,079 tons, Seam B is 34,404,139.48 tons, Seam C is 4,724,511.7 tons, and Seam D is 6,963,717.56 so that the total coal resources as a whole are 57,782,447. .74 t
