Abstract

A problem with the Indralaya Engineering Canteen's environment is the poor treatment of wastewater. Constructed wetland is an alternative to liquid waste treatment that is effective and economical to implement. Constructed wetland can be designed with controlled treatments, such as setting residence time and hydraulic loading rate (HLR). The high and low value of HLR has a close relationship with the removal of wastewater content, namely BOD, Ph and Temperature. This research is in the form of experiments, namely by conducting laboratory tests to determine the levels of pollutants contained and the volume of gray water waste from the Indralaya Civil Engineering Canteen before and after entering the constructed wetland based on the influence of variations in HLR values. The initial condition of the Indralaya Civil Engineering Canteen graywater waste in laboratory testing is, BOD 1,466 mg/L, Ph 4.33 and Temperature 28.4 oC. The highest removal efficiency of BOD, Ph and Temperature pollutant levels is in the HLR1 variation (0.06 m3/m2 .hour). While the lowest removal of pollutant levels for BOD, Ph and Temperature parameters occurred at HLR2 (0.02 m3/m2 .hour). HLR influences the process of removing pollutant levels contained in the gray water waste of the Indralaya Civil Engineering Canteen, The decrease in pollutant levels is also influenced by the plants used and microorganisms that work naturally in constructed wetland.
