Abstract
The study aims to investigate the microwave absorption characteristics of La2O3/low-dimensional carbon-based material nanocomposite. Three types of low-dimensional carbon materials were used in this study: carbon glassy spherical (CGS), graphene oxide (GO), and multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT). The synthesis of nanocomposite compounds was carried out by using the co-precipitation method. The results of research on XRD analysis show that the main phase belonging to lanthanum oxide (La2O3) has been successfully formed in all composite samples made. The Raman Spectra graph of the La2O3/carbon material composite sample shows that the results of the carbon material characterization test were detected by showing broad peak areas of the D band and G band in all samples. The surface morphology is shaped like nanoneedles with the addition of carbon material to form a La2O3 morphology structure which follows the structural shape of each carbon material. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm curve shows type IV with an H3 hysteresis loop, which indicates the presence of a mesoporous structure within the particle. The ability to absorb microwaves at the C-band frequency is 4-8 GHz and the X-band frequency is 8-12 GHz, which shows that this material is capable of absorbing microwaves by 90%. The microwave absorption of La2O3/carbon material at C-band frequency is 99.90% for La2O3/CGS, 99.40% for La2O3/GO, and 96.85% for La2O3/MWCNT. At the X-band frequency, for La2O3/CGS is 98.57%, for La2O3/GO is 99.73%, and for La2O3/MWCNT is 99.77%.
