Abstract

Utilization of grass and dirt animals such as cows, goats and chickens as verious raw material of compost with the help of earthworms as decomposers called Vermicompost. Manure and grass contain elements N, P, K required of plants. Vermicompost is one of the example of organic fertilizer that contains high nutrient and well used to improve soil fertility and support plant growth. The research aims to determine differences in the effect of vermicompost and fertilizer N, P, K and determine the best type of raw material vermicompost on growth and production of caisim {Brassica juncea L.) on Ultisol and Inceptisol. The research was conducted at Greenhouse and Laborotium Biology, Chemistry and Soil Fertility, Soil Department, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. The research using Complete Random Design of Experiments (RAL) Factorial. The first factor is the type of soil: T1 = Ultisol, T2 = Inceptisol and the second factor is the type of vermikompos: fertilizer N, P, K (P), vermicompost made ffom raw goat manure (K), vermicompost made from cow dung (S), vermicompost made from chicken manure (A) and vermicompost made from grass (R). Each of the treatment was repeated 3 times. The Results showed significant vermicompost application on plant height, leaf greenness level, wet weight and dry weight of plants caisim (Brassica juncea L.) and can increase soil pH, organic C, K-dd on Ultisol and can improve C-organic and K-dd on Inceptisol. The best vermicompost types of raw material s contained in chicken manure on Ultisol.
