Abstract
Bivalves and gastropods serve as bioindicators of the aquatic environment to identify pollution in a coastal area. It is suspected that there is a decrease in biodiversity in the waters of the Alor Islands, East Nusa Tenggara due to anthropogenic activities that cause an area to be indicated as degraded. The purpose of this study was to identify the morphology, composition, abundance of bivalves and gastropods. In addition, to compare the biodiversity of bivalves and gastropods in natural locations with degraded locations, and analyse the relationship between environmental parameters and the diversity of bivalves and gastropods. The results showed that there were 21 species of bivalves and 69 species of gastropods. The highest abundance of bivalves was 11.31%, namely Donax faba (0.113 ind/m2) and the abundance of gastropods was 3.97%, namely Erosaria erosa (0.158 ind/m2). Biodiversity values in seagrass ecosystems and tourism areas as natural habitats for bivalves and gastropods are better than biodiversity in port and residential areas as degraded areas. The correlation in the dominance index is influenced by the parameters of pH, salinity, brightness and dissolved oxygen
