Abstract

The objective of this study was to reveal the effects of the inflation and the import value on the exchage rates of Rupiah per US Dollar in Indonesia. The data used were the secondary data from the period of 2000 to 2013 which were obtained from Bank Indonesia and the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics. The data analyzed were first created into the index. The analysis technique used was the multiple regression analysis using ordinary least squares models (Ordinary Least Square). The index of the exchange rates of the Rupiah per US dollar was considered as the dependent variable, while the inflation and the import value index were considered as the independent variables. The results of this study indicated that the variables of the inflation and the import value indices had a positive and significant effect on the index of the exchange rates of Rupiah per US Dollar in Indonesia.
