Abstract

Bacillus thuringiensis is one of biological agents which can kill insect pest with its insecticidal crystal protein. This protein is produced during sporulation phase. Insect with chewing mouthparts is one of the targets of B. thuringiensis. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Phytopathology, Department of Plant Pest and Diseases, Agricultural Faculty Sriwijaya University from September to Desember 2014. The purposes of this research were to determine potential addition of shell of golden snails powder in increasing the number of cells / spores of B. thuringiensis and in improving mortality of S. litura. This study was designed by Completely Rahdomized Design consisting of 10 treatments and 3 replications. The results showed addition of shells of golden snails powder on the growth of B. thuringiensis media tend to increase the number of spores. The -highest number of spores was on treatment of coconut water mixed with tofii liquid waste and shells of golden snails powder, i.e 30.2 xl08/mL. The highest mortality of Spodoptera litura was occurred in the treatment of coconut water mixed with tofii liquid waste without addition of shells of golden snails powder, i.e. 40%. Its value of LT50 was 116.34 hours. The lowest of feed consumption of* S. litura was on liquid tofii waste (non shells of golden snails powder addition) with an average of 36.33 g.
