Abstract

Breastfeeding mothers' perceptions of the barriers they experience are important to formulate more effective strategies to encourage breastfeeding practices. The purpose of this study was to analyze the perception of barriers based on the health belief model theory with breastfeeding in stunting prevention. The sampling method used purposive sampling technique with a total of 154 samples with sample criteria, namely mothers who have children aged 6-36 months. Data analysis techniques were univariate, bivariate using chi-square test and multivariate using multiple logistic regression test. Bivariate results showed that perceived barriers, maternal age, knowledge, and educational status were significantly associated with breastfeeding in stunting prevention. Multivariate analysis showed that perceived barriers were risk factors for breastfeeding after controlling for confounding variables. Breastfeeding mothers are advised to prioritize breastfeeding to fulfill children's nutrition and attend lactation counseling to village midwives regarding perceived barriers to breastfeeding.
