Abstract

This research will focus to determine the most effective shape of building due to seismic load. There are five types of building floor-plans to be analyzed, which is a square-shaped, two types of hexagonal-shaped, and two types of octagonal-shaped floor plan. Each types of bulding will have the same area of floor plan and height, that is 256 m2 and 40 m. Each building designed to have same volume of concrete. All buildings will be located in the city of Palembang and serves as an office building. Structutral analysis of each building will be calculated by using structural calculation program. Earthquake load is calculated based on SNI 03-1726-2012. Based on analysis result, building with square-shaped floor plan have the smallest isplacement, that is 45,06 mm for response spectra method and 85,03 mm for equivalent static method. The largest displacement's difference on tenth storey is between square and hexagon 1 building, that is 10,1% for response spectra method and 11,15% for equivalent static method on octagon 1 building. Can be concluded that the building with the smallest displacement and reinforcement required, that is square-plan building, is more effective to be used compared to another types of building in this study.
