Abstract
Background. Osteoarthritis (OA) is an inflammatory disease in the joint associated with aging proses that have been one of the main health problem in the entire world. Some studies showed high level of pain intensity in knee Osteoarthritis patients can lead to physical limitation that may effects to their quality of life. Osteoarthritis is a chronic progressive condition, whereby the overall quality of life is assessed by few domains namely pain, stiffness and physical functions. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the correlation between pain intensity and the quality of life among patients with knee Osteoarthritis.Methods. This study used analytical observational with cross sectional approach. Data was collected by interviewing knee Osteoarthritis patients to assess the intensity of pain by using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and to assess the quality of life by using Western Ontario McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) questionnaire. Result. There was a significant correlation between pain intensity and quality of life among knee Osteoarthritis patients (p=0,001 , r=0,572). Conclusion. There was a significant correlation between pain intensity and quality of life among knee Osteoarthritis patients.
