Abstract

Latar Belakang: Stomatitis aftosa rekuren (SAR) adalah salah satu penyakit mukosa mulut yang paling banyak terjadi. Tatalaksana yang sering diberikan yaitu terapi topikal berupa kortikosteroid topikal yang dapat menyebabkan hipertrikosis dan dispigmentasi. Obat berbahan dasar herbal dapat menjadi alternatif solusi yang perlu dipertimbangkan seperti tanaman jahe merah (Zingiber Officinalle Var. Rubrum). Kandungan di dalam jahe merah dapat berfungsi sebagai analgesik, antibakteri, anti-inflamasi dan anti ulkus. Tujuan:Mengetahui efektivitas berkumur larutan jahe (Zingiber Officinalle Var.Rubrum) terhadap penyembuhan SAR. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan one group pretest-post test design. Sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok larutan jahe merah dan kelompok kontrol. Subjek diminta berkumur dengan larutan yang diberikan, variabel yang dinilai adalah luas permukaan lesi dan skala nyeri VAS pada hari ke-0 (baseline), hari ketiga dan ketujuh. Hasil: Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan mengenai ukuran lesi serta skala nyeri (VAS) antara kelompok larutan jahe merah dengan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan obat kumur klorheksidin 0,2%. Kesimpulan: Berkumur dengan larutan jahe merah efektif dalam penyembuhan stomatitis aftosa rekuren (SAR). Kata kunci: SAR, obat kumur, jahe merah, klorheksidin
