Abstract

Riset ini bermaksud menelusuri bagaimanakah pengaruh cairan serta suhu terhadap laju korosi memanfaatkan baja ST-42 dimana dibekali heat treating bersuhu 800C kemudian di implementasikan Quenching bersama cairan asam sulfat 7 hari lamanya atau 168 jam. Penelitian menggunakan metodologi lost weight methods dimana dimanfaatkan menelusuri nominal alur proses korosi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian eksperimental dengan tujuan mengetahui sebab akibat berdasarkan percobaan yang dilakukan secara langsung atas perlakuan yang diberikan. Variasi konsentrasi larutan untuk media pendingin diberi dimana kala itu produk uji coba di quenching didalam cairan tembaga berkadar 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, dan 20%. Proses quenching dan laju korosi dilakukan pada Workshop Pendidikan Teknik Mesin Universitas Sriwijaya. Berdasarkan studi penelitian ini, di dapatkan kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini setelah setelah dilakukan pengujian heat treatment lalu diberi perlakuan laju korosi adalah: nilai paling tinggi pada spesimen ini yaitu 5,4129 mmpy pada spesimen 4 dengan kadar 20%, berbanding terbalik dengan spesimen uji yang telah dilakukan Quenching dengan konsentrasi larutan tembaga 0% dengan nilai 1,7133 mmpy. Kata kunci: Quenching, Variasi Konsentrasi, Laju Korosi, Larutan Tembaga.
