Abstract

Tidal swamp land is land where sea and river water rises and falls which can affect the characteristics of the land. The level of crop production cannot be separated from the quality of soil fertility. Soil fertility is the potential of the soil to provide nutrients in sufficient and balanced quantities to ensure optimum plant growth and production. This research aims to determine the status of soil fertility on tidal land for rice and oil palm crops in Sukatani Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency and to develop recommended doses of fertilizer that can be applied according to nutrient requirements for plants. This research was carried out in September – December 2023 in tidal swamp land in Sukatani Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency. From the results of research that has been carried out, soil fertility at the research location is very low. The limiting factor that causes low soil fertility in this location is the CEC of soil which is classified as low to medium with values ranging from 16,31 – 24,46 me/100g, N-total soil has values ranging from 0,15 – 0,40% with low to medium criteria, soil available P is medium with values ranging from 0,31 – 5,11 mg/kg-1, and soil available K has values ranging from 0,19 – 0,26 me/100g with low criteria. The soil pH at the research location is classified as very acidic. Soil acidity occurs due to the very fast process of mineral and rock weathering and leaching. Based on the results of the analysis, the calculation of fertilizer recommendations for rice plants in Sukatani Village was obtained, namely, from the average calculation results for Urea of 111,11 kg ha-1. SP-36 was 161,83 kg ha-1, and KCl was 26,74 kg ha-1. For oil palm plants aged 10 years, an average of 211,81 kg ha-1 of urea is required, 116,81 kg ha-1 of SP-36 and 260,32 kg ha-1of KCl.
