Abstract

Hot dipping is an effective coating technology enhancing corrosion rate resistance and breaking age with dynamic and static load in seawater. The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation of corrosion resistance rate in SS400 steel against the variation of time of zinc dipping hot dipping method in case of static and dynamic loads in seawater. Hot method coating dipping with variation of 1 and 3 minute dyeing time in liquid zinc with temperature 520 ° C, the test is done by testing the thickness of the coating test equipment thickness of ultrasonic test thickness meter , immersion totals corrosion test for 10 days. Microstructure testing is performed on specimens without coating, hot dipping 1 minute, and 3 minutes. Testing age of broken specimen wrapped in water lut with a plastic with a degree of fatigue 1 °. The SEM test is performed on the specimen which has the highest breaking age cycle of each variation. Research result the longer the hot dipping time increases the thickness of the layer, besides it's the value of corrosion rate decreased. The highest fracture life cycle value occurs in a long time 3-minute dyeing time, the longer the dyeing time the resistance value corrosion to static and dynamic loads in seawater will increase. Layer there are three layers of microstructure that is base material layer, intermetallic layer, and zinc, whereas there are interglanular breaks and dendritic growth zinc
