Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai kekerasan menggunakan mesin uji Vickers pada baja ST 37 yang telah diberi perlakuan Hardening – Tempering sebelumnya dengan variasi media pendingin masing – masing spesimen. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian eksperimental dengan tujuan mengetahui sebab akibat berdasarkan percobaan yang dilakukan secara langsung atas perlakuan yang diberikan. Variasi media pendingin yang digunakan adalah oli, air garam, air radiator, dan air mineral, serta spesimen uji tanpa perlakuan Hardening – Tempering. Proses Hardening – Tempering dilakukan pada Workshop Pendidikan teknik Mesin Universitas Sriwijaya, kemudian proses pengujian Vickers dilakukan di Laboratorium Metalurgi Teknik Mesin Universitas Sriwijaya. Berdasarkan studi penelitian ini, didapatkan kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini setelah setelah dilakukan pengujian vickers adalah: nilai paling tinggi pada spesimen ini yaitu 267,456 kgf/mm2 berbanding terbalik dengan spesimen uji yang telah dilakukan Hardening – Tempering variasi media pendingin dengan nilai tertinggi yaitu pada media pendingin air mineral dengan nilai 221,603 kgf/mm2.
