Abstract

Kailan plant (Brassica oleraceae var. Alboglabra) is one of the annuals belonging to one type of vegetable family cabbage (Brassicaceae). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of compost and rice husk compost tea and their interaction in increasing the growth and yield of kailan plants (Brassica oleraceae var. Alboglabra) and to obtain the best combination of compost and compost tea doses made from rice husk raw materials that can increase the growth and production of kailan (Brassica oleraceae var. Alboglabra) in the original land of swamp lebak. This research was carried out at The research has been carried out from September to January 2024 on Jl. Politeknik Kelurahan Bukit Lama, Palembang, South Sumatra with coordinates 3°00'15.4"S 104°43'44.5"E and the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from September 2023 to January 2024. This study used a Factorial Group Randomized Design (FGRD) consisting of 2 factors. Factor I is the doses of rice husk compost (K) which consists of 3 levels, namely K0 = 0tons ha-1 rice husk compost (0grams polybag-1), K1 = 10tons ha-1 rice husk compost (25grams polybag-1), K2 = 20tons ha-1 rice husk compost (50grams polybag-1). Factor II is the volume of rice husk compost tea (T) which consists of 4 levels, namely T0 = 0mL/plant/week, T1 = 40mL/plant/week, T2 = 80mL/plant/week, T3 = 100mL/plant/week. There were 12 treatment combinations, each of which was repeated 4 times and each experimental unit had 1 plants, bringing the total number of plants to 48 plants. The variables observed in this study were soil pH analysis, plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, leaf greenness level, header fresh weight, header dry weight, root fresh weight, root dry weight, root length, and root header ratio. The results showed that the combination of compost treatment and rice husk compost tea (KxT) had a very real effect on the plant height variables leaf area, leaf life rate, header fresh weight, root fresh weight, header dry weight, and root crown ratio of kailan plants. The combination treatment of compost and compost tea K1T1 treatment (10tons ha -1 of compost + 40mL of compost tea) showed better growth and yield compared to other treatments.
