Abstract

Rice is one type of food crop that is quite strategic in supporting the realization of national food security. Increasing rice production in Indonesia is faced with various problems such as decreasing agricultural land, increasing land conversion, competition for land use, degradation of land fertility, decreasing number of farm families and agricultural spatial planning. This research was carried out on a wetland located in Pemulutan sub-district, Ogan Ilir district, South Sumatra. This study aims to determine the accessions T2 and TR2 in BC2F3 resulting from the crossing of rice varieties Inpago 5 with Inpara 8 that have high growth and production. This research was conducted using the Randomized Blok Design (RBD) method. There are 4 accessions/varieties and 3 replications in this research, where each replication contained 96 plants. Data obtained from observations were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) method. Then the analysis was continued with the Least Significant Difference Test (BNT) at the 5% level to see the differences between accessions/varieties and one sample t-test to compare accession T2 and accession TR2 with Inpara 8. The results showed that accessions T2 and TR2 had significantly different growth compared to Inpago 5 and Inpara 8 varieties, where accessions T2 and TR2 had better growth. However, the yield and production produced by accessions T2 and TR2 showed results that were not significantly different from Inpago 5 and Inpara 8, but in the parameters of the number of grains per panicle and the number of filled grains per panicle, accessions T2 and TR2 showed higher results compared to Inapago 5 and Inpara 8.
