Abstract

In an effort to improve the growth of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) in Ultisol, it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on the use of various organic materials as soil condition improvement. In this case, biomass, compost, and wet ash are the organic materials used and are expected to improve the growth of sweet corn plants in Ultisol. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of biomass, compost and wet ash application on maize plant growth in Ultisol. This research was conducted from November 2023 to February 2024. The research location was at the Field Laboratory of the Department of Soils, Sriwijaya University. Based on the conclusions of this study, the application of biomass, compost and wet ash treatments had a significant effect on leaf chlorophyll but had no significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and dry weight. Keywords : Biomass, Compost, Sweet Corn, Ultisol, Wet Ash
