Abstract

PT Timah (Persero), Tbk is a State-Owned Enterprises that operate in the biggest tin ore mining in Indonesia. The washing machine that used in TB 1.42 Pemali is pan american jig. The recovery from washing with pan american jig clean up must be reach ≥98%. One of the parameters that effecting the effectiveness of jig to obtain good recovery is number of stroke. The part of pan american jig that organize number of stroke is speed motor controller. Speed motor controller used to settle the speed of motor that can change the number of stroke. Nowdays, there are no Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) yet for speed motor controller setting at washing installation TB 1.42 Pemali. At the washing installation TB 1.42 Pemali there are three shift for operate the speed motor controller, and in every shift they have different speed setting. The speed change based on the volume and degree in the feed also change so the review of speed motor controller in the pan american jig clean up done. The variation of speed are setted of 150, 250,350, and 450 rpm. The first step is to take the sample from every feed, concentrate, and tailing from every variation of speed setting and analized the mineral content in laboratory. Recovery and cassiterite content rise in 250 rpm and will be decrease if the speed of jig motor increased or decreased from that point. From this research the suggestion of speed setting is at the 250 rpm so the cassiterite content of the shift I will be rise from 23,79% in the feed to 64,61% in the concentrate, the cassiterite content in the tailing are 1,40% and the recovery rise to 95,89% . In the shift III cassiterite content rise from 47,62% in the feed to 89,56% in the concentrate, with cassiterite content int the tailing are 1,26% and recovery rise to 98,69%. There ane no change for the second shift because it has got the highest recovery with the speed setting. The cassiterite content in the shift II are 32,52% in the feed, 61,93% in the concentrate and 1,28% in the tailing so the receovery are 97,89%.
