Abstract

Hypertension is the one of disease in which systolic and diastolic blood pressure can be balance, thus sufferers have to do a hypertension diet by maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. Medication compliance is an important factor in the management of care for hypertension sufferers. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and hypertension diet compliance. This research was is a quantitative research using a correlational design with a crosssectional research design. The research samples were 61 respondents was taken by non-probability sampling using incidental sampling techniques that fullfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Statistical analysis of this research used the Chi-Square test with α value of α = 0.05. The test results on the family support variable with diet compliance was a p value of 0.000 so it can be concluded that there was a significant relationship between family support with hypertension diet compliance. This research showed that family support can influence hypertension diet compliance in hypertension sufferers in accordance to the research result was respondents who have good family support will obedient to hypertension diet.
