Abstract

This research aims to study oil palm plantation land as a pre-nursery seedbed location and N doses from NPK to help the growth potential of oil palm seedlings under oil palm tree. The research was conducted at the Experimental Garden (3°13'13.7"S 104°38'22.0"E), at an elevation of 25 meters above sea level, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Campus, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. This research was conducted from January to March 2024. This research used a Factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors. The first factor was the percentage of shading with three treatments, and the second factor was the application of mixed fertilizer doses with four treatments. From these two factors, twelve combinations were obtained, and each treatment was repeated three times, resulting in thirty six experimental units on 3 plots measuring with 4 x 1.5 meters. The types of shade used consisted of three treatments, namely N1 = shade 2311 FC, N2 = shade 1598 FC, and N3 =shade 262 FC. The mixed fertilizer doses used consisted of four treatments, namely R0 = No fertilization (Control), R1 = Urea fertilizer 5 g + SP36 5 g + KCL 5 g/plant, R2 = Urea fertilizer 10 g + SP-36 5 g + KCL 5 g/plant, and R3 = Urea fertilizer 15 g + SP-36 5 g + KCL 5 g/plant. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). If there were significant differences, then further testing would be carried out using the LSD test at a 5% significance level. Research results show that there was an interaction between fertilizer dose treatment and shading treatment on the number of leaves at seven weeks after fertilization, and no significant effect on seedling height, stem diameter, leaf greenness, and leaf area. The best growth of pre-nursery oil palm seedlings was obtained from the combination of an N fertilizer dose of 5 g per seedling with shade 262 FC
