Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of government expenditure in the public sector on community welfare in five Provinces of Southern Sumatera (Sumbagsel) in 2017-2022. The data used in this research is secondary data form of time series data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and DJPK of the Ministry of Finance for 6 years. The analysis technique used in this research is panel data regression using the Random Effect Model (REM) and with the results of individual analysis for each Provinces in Sumbagsel. The result of this research showed that the variable of government expenditure in the education sector has a significant positive effect on community welfare in the Sumbagsel Provinces, government expenditure in the health sector has no significant effect on community welfare in the Sumbagsel Provinces, but government expenditure in the infrastructure sector has a significant negative effect on community welfare in the Sumbagsel Provinces. Simultaneously, government expenditure in the education sector, health sector, and infrastructure sector have a significant effect on community welfare in five Provinces of Sumbagsel in 2017-2022.
