Abstract

The study aims to find out the types and methods of utilization plants used in the traditional wedding rituals of Balinese people who transmigrate in the OKU Timur district. The method used in this research is a descriptive method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews and documentation. The data was collected through an in-depth interview conducted in March 2024 with three informants, consisting of one head of Bali tribal council dan two offering expert. Research locations in Anyar Village, Buay Pemuka Bangsa Raja subdistrict, OKU Timur district. The data obtained will be analyzed qualitatively descriptively. The results of the study showed that there are 35 species of plants belonging to 17 ordos and 21 families used in the traditional wedding rituals of the tribe of Bali. Poales ordo and Poaceae famili have the most widely used plants with seven species of plants namely Oryza sativa L., Saccharum officinarum L., Zea mays L., Oryza sativa glutinosa, Oryza sativa Linn. var glutinosa, Oryza rufipogon Griftiths, and Schizostachyum grandle Ridley. The plant with the highest use value (0.3) is Cocos nucifera L. and Musa acuminata Colla. Both plants are used in the three stages of the traditional wedding rituals of the Bali tribe. The use of plants in the traditional wedding rituals of the Bali tribe is the way they are chopped, cooked, cut, tied, wrapped, burned, and used in person. The most widely used part of the plant is the leaf, the fruit, the seeds, the bulbs, the stems, and the flowers. Keywords: Ethnobotany, Bali Tribe, Plant utilization, Traditional wedding ritual
