Abstract

Kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura L.) have properties as a diuretic, tonic, healing wounds, aiding digestion, and also as an adstringent. The secondary metabolites present in Muntingia calabura are flavonoids, chalcones, flavanones, phenolic compounds and steroids. This study aims to determine the effect of administering the ethanol fraction of kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura L.) as an antinephrolithiasis. Mice were divided into 7 groups, namely normal control group (NaCMC 1%), negative control (ethylene glycol 0.75% and ammonium chloride 1%), positive control (Batugin elixir 1000 mg/kgBW), and 4 test groups with a dose of 60, 120, 180, and 240 mg/kgBW. The results of the study showed a decrease in serum urea and serum creatinine levels in the treatment group at doses of 60, 120, 180, 240 mg/kgBW compared to the negative control group. Statistical analysis of Duncan's renal index and renal calcium levels showed that there was no significant difference (p>0.05) between the ethanol fraction of kersen leaves at a dose of 240 mg/kgBW and the positive control group. The test results for the total flavonoid content (TFC) of the ethanol fraction of kersen leaves were 60.57 mgQE/g or 6.06%. The calculation results of the percent antinephrolithiasis effect of dose 60 was 30.68%, dose 120 was 34.96%, dose 180 was 47.28%, and dose 240 was 51.09%. This shows that the antinephrolithiasis effect of the ethanol fraction of kersen leaves at a dose of 240 mg/kgBW is not significantly different (p>0.05) from the positive control (Batugin elixir 1000 mg/kgBW). The effective dose (ED50) of the ethanol fraction of kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura L.) as an antinephrolithiasis is 223.39 mg/kgBb. This shows that the ethanol fraction of cherry leaves has antinephrolithiasis activity
