Abstract

Sea cucumber (Actinopyga spinea) is an invetebrata phylum Echinoderm of the class Holothuroidea. Sea cucumbers have a lot of protein, lipids, and carbohydrates. So that sea cucumbers are used as processed food, industry, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The content of sea cucumbers has resulted in an increase in demand in the global export market. The high demand for sea cucumbers has resulted in overexploitation. Based on data from the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Natural Resources), sea cucumbers are included in the Red List Data Book. Cultivation is needed to overcome resource problems in the future, but environmental factors affect behavior change. This study aims to determine the daily behavior of sea cucumbers and the frequency of sea cucumber behavior. The method used in this study is Focal Animal Sampling. Based on the data from the daily behavior research results, 6 behaviors were obtained, including tentacle pulling behavior, resting behavior, movement behavior, wall-gluing behavior, self-elongation behavior and social behavior. The behavior of removing tentacles with an average percentage of 37.78% is the most common behavior carried out by sea cucumbers. Resting behavior was 22.81%, movement behavior was 14.58%, wall-clinging behavior was 9.52%, elongation behavior was 7.73% and social behavior was the behavior that had the least percentage of sea cucumbers with an average percentage of 6.54%. Keywords : Sea cucumber, sea cucumber content, exploitation, cultivation, behavior
