Abstract

National injury prevalence tends to increase every year. Wounds must be healed immediately because they are an important role in maintaining homeostasis and have the potential to become chronic infections if not treated. Cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta) contain the main substance rutin or quercetin 3-O-rutinoside (flavonoids) and contain saponins and tannins as anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant which can help the wound healing process. This research is aiming to find the effect of giving ethyl acetate from cassava leaf fraction towards open wound healing rate. The test animal that consist of 25 Sprague Dawley rats, divided into 5 groups which consist of negative control test, positive control test, control test K1, K2, and K3. The observed parameter include wound diameter, wound healing time, and healing percentage. Diameter of wound was analyzed using ANOVA test to observe the differences between certain days of the observation. The research result shows that ethyl acetate fraction from cassava leaf (Manihot esculenta) with 20% dossage is proven to accelerate the healing rate in rats that achieved healing rate of 100% in 14 days, where there was no significant difference (p>0,05) between cassava leaf fraction at a dose of 20% against the positive control (Tekasol®) and significantly different from the negative control. Also, there is significant difference (p <0,05) between negative control and all control groups (positive, K1, K2, dan K3) on day 14. This shows that positive control and treatment with dosage variation can accelerate the healing rate on open wound.
