Abstract
This study aimed to determine the best combination of oil palm empty fruit bunches compost and urea fertilizer on the growth of aloe vera (Aloe vera L.). This study was carried out at Jalan K.H. Balkhi Perumahan Permata Hijau (3o00’01”S 104o47’02”E), Palembang City, South Sumatra Province, from July to August 2020. This study used Randomized Block Design method which consisted of 7 treaments with 3 replications and thus obtaining 21 experimental units, each experimental unit consist of 3 plants, so there were 63 plants. The treatments used in this study were. P0: control, P1: Urea fertilizer 50 g/ plant, P2: Urea fertilizer 40 g/ plant, P3: Urea fertilizer 30 g/ plant, P4: OPEFB fertilizer 150 g/ plant, P5: OPEFB fertilizer 100 g/ plant, P6: OPEFB fertilizer 50g/ plant. The results showed that the application of OPEFB fertilizer can increase plant growth and yield of Aloe Vera (Aloe vera L.) on the variables of midrib width, midrib length and midrib thickness. Treatment of OPEFB fertilizer 150 g/ plant giving the best effect on the midrib width and midrib length.
