Abstract

The South Sumatra Provincial DPRD Building is one of the state-owned buildings located in South Sumatra. This building is used by members of the council in carrying out their duties as community representatives to channel aspirations, the general public to convey aspirations, and the building manager itself. The main activities that will be accommodated in this building are daily work activities and meeting activities of DPRD members and authorized staff. This building is also facilitated with a vehicle parking area, dining area, place of worship, and an open garden. The South Sumatra Provincial Government has planned to build a new Provincial DPRD Building in the new integrated office area of Keramasan, Palembang City. This ongoing and large-scale development could have a negative impact on the climate and the surrounding environment. In addition, buildings with office and meeting functions will use a lot of energy to meet the needs and facilities of building users. Therefore, the design of this building is carried out in order to reduce the negative impacts caused and reduce the use of energy used daily. In addition, as a people's representative building, this DPRD building should be an example of a building that pays attention to the surrounding environment, especially in the South Sumatra region. Based on these problems, the concept of environmentally friendly buildings with green building principles is used in designing this building. This concept is applied starting from the management of the building site, spatial layout, and building utilities. The use of cross ventilation and open corridors is designed for energy efficiency in ventilation. The use of glass facades is designed for energy efficiency in lighting. Then, rainwater re-management is used for efficient use of clean water in the building
