Abstract

Cherry tomato is a seasonal crop and horticultural commodity in the Solanaceae family. Cherry tomato plants belong to the type of plants that can grow on various types of soil, one of which is Ultisol. The use of inorganic fertilizers combined with Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Compost (OPEFB) is very important in maintaining soil fertility and is expected to increase the productivity of cherry tomato plants. This study aims to determine the effect and dose of the best combination of NPK fertilizer and OPEFB compost on soil pH content, availability-P and growth of cherry tomatoes. The research was conducted in the Plastic House located in the Agrotech Training Center (ATC) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from December 2023 to February 2024. The research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRFD) consisting of two factors with 5 treatment levels and repeated 3 times to get 45 polybag units. The results showed that the application of NPK fertilizer had a significant effect on plant height at the age of 28 Days After Planting (DAP) and the application of oil palm empty fruit bunch compost had a significant effect on height at the age of 21 DAP, 28 DAP, 35 DAP, 42 DAP and 49 DAP. However, the interaction of NPK fertilizer and oil palm empty fruit bunch compost had no significant effect on plant height. The treatment combination B1O3 (0.5 tons of NPK + 15 tons of compost ha-1) is the best treatment in producing plant height, has the highest pH value compared to other treatments.
