Abstract

Tomato plants are a type of plant that can grow on various types of soil, one of which is Ultisol. In order to produce good growth and yield, cherry tomato plants require complete nutrients, both macro and micro with a balanced composition supplied from organic and inorganic fertilizers. The application of organic fertilizers combined with inorganic fertilizers can increase plant productivity and fertilizer use efficiency. This study aims to determine the effect and dose of the best combination of NPK fertilizer and Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) compost on soil total nitrogen content, soil organic carbon and growth of cherry tomatoes. The research was conducted in the Plastic House located in the Agrotech Training Center (ATC) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from December 2023 to February 2024. This study used the method of Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRFD) consisting of two factors. The first factor is NPK fertilizer (B) which consists of 3 levels and the second factor is OPEFB compost (O) which consists of 5 levels, so that 15 treatment combinations are obtained. Each treatment combination was repeated 3 times so that the total was 45 experimental units. The results showed that the provision of NPK fertilizer had a significant effect on the number of leaves at the age of 28 Days After Planting (DAP) and 35 DAP. The application of OPEFB compost has a significant effect on the number of leaves at 35 DAP. However, the interaction of NPK fertilizer and OPEFB compost had no significant effect on the number of cherry tomato leaves. The B2O4 treatment combination (1 ton of NPK + 20 tons of OPEFB compost ha-1) was the best treatment in producing the number of fruits and increasing soil total nitrogen content.
