Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between rainfall and flood occurrences in six regencies in South Sumatra, namely Empat Lawang, Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Komering Ulu, Ogan Komering Ilir, Pali, and Banyuasin, during the period 2018-2022. The data used in this research include rainfall data from NASA POWER validated with BMKG data and flood occurrence data obtained from DIBI BNPB. This study utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map the distribution of rainfall and classify flood occurrence maps in the study area. The method used is correlation analysis to determine the relationship between rainfall and the number of flood occurrences. The regression analysis results reveal a significant relationship between rainfall and the number of flood occurrences in the study area with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.853 indicating a very strong correlation. This R value suggests that most of the variation in flood frequency can be explained by variations in rainfall, although other factors such as topography, built-up land, and flood inflow from other areas also play a role.
