Abstract

The nutritional status of toddlers is greatly influenced by aspects such as food intake, family food security, parenting patterns, as well as health services and environmental health. This research aims to look at the relationship between food security, parenting patterns, and the nutritional status of toddlers below the yellow line in Jatisari Village, Madang Suku I District, East Ogan Komering Ulu Timur. The research used was an analytical survey using a cross sectional method with a sample of 127 toddlers selected using puroisive sampling techniques. Analysis was carried out using the chi-square test to test the relationship between food security and parenting patterns and the incidence of children under the Yellow Line (BGK). The research results show that there is a significant relationship between family food security and the incidence of BGK under five (p-value=0.011). However, no relationship was found between eating patterns (p-value=1.00) and health (p-value=0.720) with the incidence of BGK toddlers in Jatisari Village. Therefore, it can be concluded that family food security factors have a significant relationship with the incidence of BGK under five. It is hoped that future research can expand the range of variables or involve other factors, such as the social and economic environment, to further understand the factors that influence the nutritional status of toddlers. Apart from that, community empowerment efforts need to be made, especially in increasing family food security as a preventive measure to reduce the incidence of BGK under five.
